AUNT IN AGONY

My sister-in-law is back with her abusive partner, am I right to keep my kids from seeing her?

DEAR DEIDRE: SINCE my sister-in-law went back to her abusive partner, my husband and I don’t talk to her.

We’re sick and tired of it all and I have also stopped her from seeing my daughters, who are one and three.

Since my sister-in-law went back to her abusive partner, my husband and I don’t talk to her

We want her to leave and get a divorce but she has chosen to stay. She is 29 and her husband is 35. She has two boys with this horrible man.

I’m 31 and she says I am using my children as weapons. But I don’t want my daughters to grow up thinking that a man can hit a woman and get away with it. Am I right?

DEIDRE SAYS: I can fully understand you not wanting your daughters to visit your sister-in-law in her home.

But turning your back on her now means it’s more likely she’ll stay with him. She needs your support.

Urge her to contact the National Domestic Violence Helpline for advice and support (0808 2000 247).
